Waveney Valley Food & Drink Festival
It’s only a week until the Waveney Valley Food & Drink Festival begins, with the nine day celebration creeping ever closer there is a certain buzz around the Valley as it gets ready to celebrate locally produced food and drink from across the whole of the Waveney Valley. Kicking things off will be the Food Debate being held at the Fisher Theatre in Bungay starting at 7.30pm. Everyone has an opinion about food. How it’s grown, produced, prepared, cooked, packaged, sold, eaten and wasted. So the Food Debate is the perfect way to start proceedings off. From then on the celebration continues with 22 events running the length of the valley from Diss to Beccles. Events include Food and Drink Fairs, Farmers Markets, Open Farms, Special Menus and Real Ale Trails. There are events every day leading right up to main weekend.
The festival concludes with a two day Food and Drink Fair in the grounds of Bungay Castle, where 40 stalls will be showcasing the very best food and drink the Waveney Valley has to offer, ranging from Mrs Kiddie and her delicious homemade cakes to PA Mobbs and there tender mouth watering Suffolk guinea Fowl The festival fair starts from 10am and runs right through until 4pm. During this time you will be treated to some fantastic treats! Not only will there be food & drink for you to enjoy, but you will also be entertained with a cooking demonstration by The Creative Kitchen. The festival is fun for all the family! so why don’t you bring along the little ones for them to enjoy and get stuck in with the kids kitchen and WaveneyValley animals, then finish off with a delicious ice cream form Hundred River Farm. To make the festival complete this year we will be treated to two days of music! On the Saturday 7-piece acoustic band Brother Pit who describe their sound as ‘Americana from the East’ will be performing and on the Sunday East Anglian folk duo Silbury Hill combine an eclectic mix of covers and original songs.
